An autistic teenager died after being set on fire with self-tanning spray at his own birthday party:
Police are investigating whether the death of Steven Simpson was murder or a drunken prank that went wrong.Steven celebrated the milestone birthday on Friday and had thrown a party for friends at his home in Pleasant View, Cudworth, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire.Emergency services were called at about 2.20am on Saturday after the flammable solution somehow got onto his clothing and caught fire.Steven died from his injuries the following evening at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield after suffering ‘significant burns’.
Six people were arrested for attempted murder. Steven and his mother had recently moved to get away from bullies.
